I have come to realize that I really like rolling toons on new servers, servers where I have some friends, and would like to make more. Twitter has fed this addiction, in that I have met a lot of people. Creating characters on new servers means that I get to level without Heirlooms. I might be crazy, or possibly masochistic, I’m not sure which at this point in time.  Of toons that aren’t on Ashe’s server (Azuremyst, with all the heirlooms) I have:
Perlei: Level 80 warlock (She’s locked at 80)
Arlessan: Level 75 DK (Even though I don’t generally like playing meele classes. This toon was created to be a JC on the new server)
Helza: Level 20 Hunter (That I’ll probably never actually play)
Mari: 30 (Ish) Priest (Not the same server as the first three)

I do have a plan of action for some these toons though! Perlei is going to get Herald of the Titans, then she can get un-XP Locked and level to 90. and Mari is my current Work in Progress, as I wanted to see what it was like to level a new priest (Which I’ll hopefully finish my guide for eventually, even though with the leveling process, it seems like leveling guides might not really be needed anymore!)

When I do play on Ashe, it’s only for raiding. Our guild is still trying to progress through Heroic Dragon Soul (10M) and will be doing some more work on H-Blackhorn this week. I also continue to run Firelands every week, to work on my legendary, and help others work through the quests to get theirs. @Jedsblog finished his up sometime this month, and we have quite a few others on various parts of the quest. I have a feeling that I will keep running this raid forever. I still have about 7 weeks of Normal Firelands 10m until I’ll actually be finished, and I’ll continue to run it until all of the great people who helped me out have theirs too. If we could get a 25m together, that would be quicker, but as it is we usually struggle to get the last 1 or 2 people together to pull our raids off.

So yeah, new toons with no heirlooms and *Still* running Firelands? I’d call that crazy

First off, the talents that I chose:

15: Void Tendrils – This tier has 3 different choices for CC.
30:  Body and Soul – For faster running and getting around. Lucky for us, Power: Word Shield doesn’t remove ShadowForm.
45: From Darkness, comes light – Damage from Vampiric Touch has a 15% Chance to cause Mind Spike to 1) Be free, 2) Be Instant and 3) NOT remove dots. Free instant cast spells sound like a pretty good idea to me. PW:Solace Might be another option. Strips off SW: P to do instant damage. We’ll see.
60: Spectral Guise – Invisibility sounds good to me
75: Divine Insight – SW: P Damage has a chance to reset the cooldown on Mind Blast (Granting the possibility of more shadow orbs!) Power Infusion might be a good choice for a boss with well defined burn phases (Think: when Hagara is stunned and takes more damage). Twist of Fate causes more damage sub 20% Health, which I also might try out (I think it depends on how long the sub 20% phases are for each fight.

I should mention the change to shadow orbs. They’re basically Holy Power. You use Mind Blast to get them, and then they can be used to empower Devouring Plague (Which is not a Keep up all the time DoT anymore). Devouring plague’s damage will be based on how many orbs you had when you cast it. You will always use all of the orbs available (So you can’t cast it with only 1 orb, if you have 2)

So, According to the WoW Spells tab, here’s what the priority List looks like

Vampiric Touch – Keep up at all times
Shadow Word: Pain – Keep up at all times
Mind Blast  - Cast on Cooldown
Devouring Plague – Cast when you have 3 shadow orbs
Mind Flay – Cast when there’s nothing left to do.

Because of the talent, From Darkness comes Light, that I chose, I will also be casting Mind Spike when it procs. It will fit Before Mind Flay into the rotation. (Put up DoT’s, use Mind Blast, Use Mind Spike if it procs, Use Mind Flay) Of course YMMV based on if you chose that talent or not. Mind Spike is still a very useful tool by it’s self, to simply remove dots so things don’t die before they’re supposed to (Like the Amalgs on Spine of Deathwing fight)

It started with a website called TwitterlandRaiding.com Some people got together and put up a “Guild” website that anyone who was willing to share their RealID (With just one Raid Leader at a time) could participate in any number of old content raids.  People formed groups to get Ulduar drakes, to form a rotating  system so everyone could get Sarth 3D 25-man drakes, some people go for the fun of being with other people, some go to get achievements, and some go to work on Legendaries.

I started to hang out with people. I’d been mildly active in the Twitter Community (Because I’m a fail blogger! Shhh), and when I heard the buzz about TLR I thought it would be a fun thing to do. I raided some Wrath raids, and had a blast. Then I found a group that was going to work on getting @jedsblog his legendary staff from Firelands. I had about half of my embers at this point, and knew that my guild wasn’t really interested in getting it for me (Though technically someone else was on Embers at this point. but our guild is *very* rarely ever in Firelands anyways). I managed to jump on with this group and become the next in line.  Jed should get his staff sometime this week after getting a chance to kill Ragnaros. I’ve just started my third step, and I’m really excited. Not only am I on my way to a legendary, but I have met 15-20 new people through this group.

After running with Jed for a while, I rolled a toon in his guild (On the very low-pop US-Ursin), and have made even more friends through his guild! It’s the first toon I’d ever successfully leveled on a server that didn’t have one of my “Main toons” on it. Now my warlock is sitting at level 80. The highest I’d ever gotten a Warlock, and without Heirlooms to boot. She’ll stay at 80 for a few more weeks (or so) as a bunch of people get together to try to get the achievement for [Herald of the Titans]

Really, the core of it is that 1) people on sucky realms don’t have to fight each week to get groups going for Firelands, or ICC, or Ulduar for their Achievements, mounts, and/or Legendaries (Except apparently if you’re trying to go back to ICC weekly because no one really wants that ) and also 2) you don’t have to roll a new toon from scratch, and get it to level cap just so that you can do fun things with new friends that you meet.

Now if only Blizzard would let us raid Dragon Soul cross realm now that it’s been out for 9+ months!

I find myself only logging on for raid times. Two nights a week (Most times) I raid Dragon Soul with my guild. We’ve managed to clear it completely, and also down 3 Heroic Bosses (Which is a great thing!). I also raid one night a week in Firelands with a bunch of people from across the internet, and I am happy to say that I have made it through 750/1000 Seething Cinders for the Legendary Quest Line! Hopefully before Mists is released, I’ll have that staff!

Honestly, when I think about it, I really only get enjoyment out of my Firelands raid nights. It’s not that I don’t love my guild, but I’ve recently started feeling uninterested in Dragon Soul. I think moreso now I am logging on to not let anyone on my raid team down, moreso than being interested and actually looking forward to raid nights! (Which I used to do a lot). I also think that it’s going to get a lot worse in the coming weeks, as my Husband just got a new job that has him working during our raiding times (Our raid starts at 8:30, and he’s usually scheduled til 10). He has been looking and found a new guild, on another server, and of the opposite faction (Traitor!), that fits his schedule better. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for him! I’m just sad that I am probably not going to be raiding with him much anymore. That gives me even less incentive to want to go back to Dragon Soul.

There are, of course, other things that I could be doing in WoW, Like leveling a new toon, or gathering mats for the coming expansion, but honestly I haven’t really been doing any of that. I don’t even know if I’m waiting on the expansion to come out, or if I’m getting some general burnout. I have a warlock I’ve been meaning to level on another server to play with some friends (I’d even consider some of them Good friends now!) but she’s stuck in the early 40′s and I have no desire to log on really.

I had planned to write a shadow priest leveling guide for Mists, but the thought of leveling *another* toon is stopping me from doing it. It’s not like the questing has been abbreviated, and I am actually a very slow leveler, so I don’t really know how to get up the gumption to do it! Hopefully, I’ll get to feeling better about WoW in general, and have something interesting to say sometime soon

So, here’s what I’ve been doing recently!  With the Pre-expansion lull, I’m still fidgeting over what sort of things I want to post about. There isn’t really anything new going on in Live.. and I am not playing on the Beta very much.

My guild is still raiding. We are not a “hardcore guild” or anything like that, but we have been getting stuff done! from a guild that raids about 3-6 hours a week (and has the whole patch), we’ve made it 3/8 H In Dragon Soul, and are currently working on Heroic Hagara. It’s been an interesting adventure so far, because I’ve never really been in a guild that is attempting to actually progress through Hardmodes. Ashe has gotten some good gear upgrades on the 3 Heroic bosses we have on “farm” (Well Morchok and Ultraxion are definitely on Farm status, Yor’sahj is still mostly a work in progress, He hasn’t been too bad recently!), but with 5 of the people in our 10 man group on the Pally/Priest/Warlock token, it’ll be a long time coming before I get *all* of the pieces I’m looking for (Note: Dear Blizzard, we don’t really want any more Warrior/Hunter/Shaman tokens please. We only have 1 person in our raid on that token, and he has almost, if not all of the pieces he wants )

I have been working on Loremaster on Ashe. She’s had Cataclysm and Eastern Kingdoms done for a while now, and finished Outlands earlier this week! Now I’m working on Kalimdor, and I have very few quests done there (I think I just finished my 3rd zone.. and I don’t have any zones that are partially complete) so I know that it’ll take a while. I think she has about 500-550 quests left there. Then it’s on to Northrend to finish off, and somehow, I have 600 quests left to do out there (apparently I leveled through Dungeons out there, and didn’t do too much questing). In reality, I could probably wait for Mists to make the achievements accountwide, and I would have most, if not all of it done, but there’s just something about working on it all on Ashe that has me interested enough to keep going.

I loved this quest. Where you go find out about Teron Gorefiend in SMV, then he possesses you. It was a harder quest because of mechanics, but I enjoyed it!

I’ve also been leveling another toon, this time a Death Knight on Ursin-A (I know, a melee toon? Yuck.) I’m super bad at being melee (Unless I’m the tank, and even then, I’m not *that* good), so this is really a learning experience for me. She’s currently level 65, and I’ll probably continue to level her through Dungeons, with the occasional questing (since I’m only DPS, and the queues can be long, depending on the night). I also have a warlock in the 30′s over there, but I think I’m going to wait to level that toon with a friend.

Ashe spends her Saturday Nights in Firelands, to work on her legendary staff. I have about 28% of the items needed to get through the second collection quest, so I still have weeks and weeks left to go. Sometimes we attempt Heroic Modes on 10M, and sometimes we can do it, others we can’t. It’s just dependent on our group makeup, and since I go with TwitterLand Raids, the group always varies.

One of the *interesting* things I’ve been trying to do is solo old raids.
Raids I’ve completely Soloed:

• Molten Core
• Magtheradon’s Lair
• Karazhan

I know I could probably do Ruins of AQ, and possibly BWL (Except the first boss)
I’ve attempted High King Maulgar (in Gruuls) and Hydross (In SSC). Both of those.. kinda kicked my butt.  I think it might be possible for me to do Hydross as Disco, but I don’t ever think about using my atonement spec while I’m trying to solo things. (Heck, I didn’t even want to do it for the Nexus Event for the Legendary Questline. I *did* manage to kill that one as shadow though)

I think that’s it really. I haven’t been playing much of any other Games. I own Diablo 3, but since clearing it in normal mode, I have lost a lot of interest for it. There aren’t really any other games that have interested me recently, but I seem to have enough going on in WoW to keep me busy (Except on Tuesday Mornings!)

You’ll need something that watches Buffs, and debuffs. Here is what I look at on my screen (I use NeedToKnow, a very fantastic addon):

Debuffs on Target:
Vampiric Touch
Shadow Word: Pain
Devouring Plague

Buffs on Self:
Shadow Orbs (stacks to 3)
Empowered Shadow
Dark Evangelism (stacks to 5)

Empowered Shadow is by far the most important thing to look for. It’s granted by Mind Blasting when you have a shadow orb up. It grants 10% increase in damage for all DoT’s (Yes, even Mind Flay and Mind Sear). It lasts for 15 seconds.

First, Apply all three DoT’s (VT, SWP, DP). SWP Will refresh with your use of Mind Flay due to the Pain and Suffering Talent.

You need to get Empowered Shadows up as soon as possible. Mind flay till you get an orb, then use Mind Blast. Use Mind Blast on Cooldown, paying attention to the duration of Empowered Shadows. If it’s about to run out, and you don’t have an orb up, then you have 2 options, keep Mind Flaying till you get an orb (Preferred) or refresh dots so they get the benefit from the ES already up, then MB > MF as usual till an orb procs.

Use Shadowfiend on Cooldown (Or you can save it for Burn Phases like Black Phase for Zon’ozz or burning tendons on Spine), The same with Archangel (But only use it when you have 5 stacks of Dark Archangel) You do want to keep up the Dark Archangel buff up as much as possible, as it gives you a buff (Increases damage done by DoT’s by 2% per stack). If you are an herbalist, use Lifeblood during SF/AA or burn phases.

Note: Shadowfiend has to be out BEFORE Heroism is popped so that it gets the buff. Otherwise, any buffs that you get, it will also get (Haste / SP / etc.)

When your target is below 25% health, then Use Shadow Word: Death. Get the Glyph, and be sure to use it both Times. In my rotation it comes after Mind Blast 2+ orbs, but before MB with 0 or 1 orb.

Advanced Techniques:

Once you have mastered the above (It’s not that hard, I promise!) There are a few other things you’ll want to watch.

Procs: SWP Will auto refresh when you use Mind Flay, so you don’t have to worry about it so much, however VT and DP don’t “update” their spellpower/haste until they are re-casted. Power Torrent, Trinket Procs, Lightweave are things that I watch on my screen, so that I can try to refresh my dots 1) when I first see them and 2) Just as they’re about to end so the rest of the duration of the DoT has increased SP or Haste.

4PT13: There are two parts that are nice about this bonus. When Shadowy Appirations damage a target, then you get 3 orbs! This is nice because sometimes it really sucks to fish for orbs when Empowered Shadow is about to run out, and you’ll occasionally be granted 3 orbs.

Then there’s the part where Each time your Shadowfiend hits, you get 3 orbs. Shadowfiend hits every ~1.5 seconds for 15 seconds. The 3 extra orbs for Mind Blast are really nice, but just using it for this reason is almost wasteful! Mind Spike also gets a bonus for Shadow Orbs, so when you cast Shadowfiend, Change your rotation to MS till MB’s off CD> MB  (Rinse, repeat). You’ll get some really good spike damage with this rotation. If you can time Archangel to be off CD when you use Shadowfiend, it will be even better!

Back-story (AKA Pictures I didn’t take)
After Killing one of the Molten Giants in the Firelands, a class with a DPS Caster spec is granted a quest titled “A Legendary Engagement”. A Bronze Dragon in Stormwind or Orgrimmar tells you that Anachronos, Heir of Nozdormu, wants to speak with you.

After speaking to Anachronos he shows you a vision of what is in the future for Azeroth due to some sort of event that has been obscured from him. He tells you to gather 25 Eternal Embers from the bosses in Firelands, plus 3 Sands of Time, and he will forge the “Timeless Eye” allowing you to see this event that he cannot.

Anachronos forges the Timeless Eye for you. The Dragons have determined that you need to take it to The Nexus, where the event in question has been found to take place. Upon flying into Coldarra (Or Hearthing, or getting summoned), You are thrown into a cutscene.

You get spotted by this awesome looking Dragon, who goes on to tell you that Lesser Beings are not welcome in Coldarra, and that you should leave. Now.

After explaining why you are there, She tells you that you should be glad another of the Blue Dragons didn’t spot you, or else you would possibly be toast before getting the chance to explain yourself. She says to meet her in the Nexus

Then you have to fight your way through some sentries, and evil interrupting/silencing Mana Hunters (dogs). Tarecgosa tanks the big guys for you, so you can pewpew your lazers as fast as possible and kill the dogs and sentries. After spotting some dragonkin, she freezes you in a block of ice, and tells them that you’re her prisoner. They walk away, you attack another sentry, and this one, seeming to be more intelligent than the last few, runs off to tattle on you.

I thought Iceblock was only for Mages?

You find Tarecgosa being held by 2 sentries, and after picking them off one at a time, she walks with you down a hallway, and sees that there’s a wall in the way. She uses her magical purple/pink Dragon Fire to break down the wall, and tells you to watch her back while she does so. Sometimes, a big demon dog spawns at this point.

Now I really want pink fire.

When the wall is finally broken down, Tarecogsa sees that there are Black Dragonkin in the Nexus, and she’s really confused/probably sort of ticked off. You get to jump across some platforms to get across the rift, then she breathes ice crystals at all the mobs standing on the other side. It’s pretty awesome.

Once you get to the platform with the boss Thyrinar, he’ll chain Tarecgosa down, and you’ll have to fight him solo. There’s a lot of running around, and mobs spawn periodically, but if you keep up dots, remember to Psychic Scream/Fear/Root/Ring of Frost the adds to pick them off one by one, it’s totally doable

She was mostly alright. Isn't it just like the characters of questlines to not help us during the hard parts? Like *cough*Tirion*cough*.

After the boss is dead, you get to look through the Timeless Eye. In this cut scene, you see Arygos talking to Deathwing. Who promises that if made the new Aspect of Magic, that he’ll totally be on Deathwing’s side. (Which is exactly what we wanted, right?)

This... is probably bad.

After the cut scene ends, you get to go chat with Kalecgos at Nordrassil and tell him what you saw in your vision!

Kalecgos totally shows up in Hyjal whenever I'm there now It's kind of neat.

1 ) I have 2 or 3 other failed blog attempts. Mostly they never made it past the “Hi, welcome to my blog” page.

2 ) I have never leveled a Horde Toon above level 20 (hoping to change this soon!)

3 ) My Hubby and I have a really old kitty! (she’s 16!)

4 ) I’m a SUPER slow leveler. Annmariah, my first toon, took me almost a year to get to level 80 (During WotLK), other toons have gotten faster, but I’m just not super efficient at leveling.

5 ) I love to cook, but not bake, I’m a terrible baker.

6 ) I’m planning on leveling a toon and capping her at 70 (Eventually) so that I can go through all the Burning Crusade stuff “At level”, since I joined during Wrath.

7 ) I’m working on Loremaster. I’ll get there eventually

8 ) I dislike the Worgen starting area. There’s something… claustrophobic about it. I did manage to get a new toon out of there recently, though only because I had someone to level with.

9 ) I feel like my toons have to have professions while leveling. Even if they never really get leveled, all of my toons have 2 professions.

10 ) I’m not a compulsive screenshot taker – though if something BIG is happening, then I’ll try to take a few (I actually took quite a lot while working on the quests for my legendary).

Well that’s it. Not anything groundbreaking, but hopefully sort of interesting.

Since I wanted this blog to be about all aspects of Priesting, I thought that the name was appropriate.  I love to Heal all the things, and kill all the things in WoW!
